Hospitals in Germany now offer imaging of the Aorta

There are many parts that make up the cardiovascular system, but the aorta has to be one of the main integral parts of it. The aorta is known to be the largest artery which is present within the body, and starts at the left ventricle within the heart and extends right down to the abdomen. If you are having trouble with your heart, then you may be referred to one of the many hospitals in Germany for a procedure such as that of an ultrasound scan.

An ultrasound scan is usually performed by a consultant radiologist, who specialises in the cardiovascular field. There are many radiologists within a hospital, but all specialise in different fields, such as:

· If you were having headaches and needed an MRI or a CT scan of the head, then the doctor who would usually read your scans would be a Neuroradiologist. These radiologists specialise in anything to do with heads basically, they also have an in depth knowledge into other areas of the body, but their main speciality would be that of the head and brain.
· If you were having trouble with your hips and knees then you would be seen by a doctor who specialising in orthopaedics and so on.

If you are needing a scan, then there are procedures which you will need to go through before you are able to have one, such as:

· You will need to get a referral letter from either a consultant or a GP, this letter will name the procedure that you need, along with the list of symptoms you have.
· Once you have the letter, then you will need to contact the hospital in question and ask for a price of the procedure and a date when the procedure could be undertaken.
· It is important to remember, that if there is more than one private hospital available within your area, to check out the prices of both, as often the same consultants work within each of the private hospitals.
